Building Capacity, Creating Opportunity, and Leading with Character

Progress in Haiti doesn’t show up overnight. It’s made—day after day—by people who show up, work hard, and choose to do things the right way.

February was one of those months where the work quietly built momentum across everything Extollo does—from classrooms and construction sites to the systems that keep us moving. And through it all, the same values guided us: teamwork, responsibility, integrity, excellence, discipline, initiative, and respect. These aren’t just words on a wall; they shape how students learn, how staff lead, and how change actually happens.

Skills That Open Doors

In our Welding & Metal Fabrication program, students didn’t just pick up new techniques—they gained confidence and real pride in their work. This month, several young women stood out for their determination and skill.

Shenay graduated at the top of her class, with Wademise right behind her. Instructors said the quality of their work rivaled what they’ve seen from longer programs in the U.S.

But the biggest win isn’t the pieces they built—it’s who they’re becoming. Hands-on training is teaching responsibility for their craft, integrity in how they work, and the initiative to chase opportunities in their communities. If you haven’t read it yet, take a moment for Miala’s story in honor of International Women’s Month.

From Students to Leaders

One of the clearest signs of long-term impact is when students begin stepping into leadership.

This month, that vision continued to take shape. Instructors invested deeply in developing new leaders from within—equipping them not just to teach technical skills, but to model respect, teamwork, and strong character in the classroom.

We saw this as team members stepped into new roles, took on greater responsibility, and supported one another in meaningful ways. Whether leading a class, managing operations, or mentoring peers, these moments reflect a growing culture where leadership is shared and multiplied.

Preparing for What's Next

Behind the scenes, the team finalized the curriculum for our upcoming Concrete Level 1 course, launching in April.

This program will equip students with essential construction skills—from reading plans to calculating materials to properly mixing and placing concrete. But just as importantly, it will continue reinforcing the habits that lead to long-term success: discipline in preparation, excellence in execution, and integrity in every step of the process.

Each new course expands opportunity—not just for students, but for the communities they will go on to serve.

Work That Strengthens Communities

Construction and site work moved steadily. At the HHA campus, teams began remodeling guest houses—real projects that trained students across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and finishing. These jobs demand teamwork and adaptability, and they make the campus better for everyone.

Production also advanced with benches, picnic tables, and Fortium Security Wall panels. These aren’t just products; they’re steps toward sustainability—where skill-building meets real business opportunity. And the quieter work—planning layouts, coordinating equipment, refining processes—matters just as much. It all reflects a commitment to excellence and responsibility.

Breakthroughs in Logistics and Infrastructure

After months of delays, critical equipment finally arrived: a truck transmission and transport chassis. That delivery was more than parts—it was a payoff for persistence, patience, and initiative. With better equipment, Extollo can move materials faster, expand capacity, and work more efficiently.

At the Champin property, electrical infrastructure got connected, too—another foundation laid for future growth. Every step takes coordination and care, and every small win sets the stage for bigger progress.

Strength Behind the Scenes

A lot of this work wouldn’t be possible without strong systems. Administrative teams in Haiti and the U.S. spent February tightening time tracking, improving accounting, managing payroll, and strengthening coordination. Those tasks aren’t flashy, but they make sure we operate with transparency and stewardship.

Growing Through Challenges

Growth brings challenges—delays, complexity, and rising demand. Those aren’t failures; they’re signs we’re expanding. The work now is to adapt, improve systems, and deepen impact. That’s where character matters most: choosing integrity over shortcuts, responsibility over ease, and teamwork over individual wins.

Why Your Support Matters

Every training completed, every building improved, every system strengthened—your support makes this possible. You help create opportunities for students to learn real skills. You help develop leaders who invest in their communities. You help build something sustainable in Haiti—rooted in work and character.

Stay part of this story. Share Extollo’s work with friends and family. Follow new programs and projects as they launch. And if you can, come see it in person—there’s nothing like witnessing transformation on the ground.

Join the Crew

We need steady support to keep this work going. The Extollo Crew—our monthly partners—provides the reliable foundation that lets us plan, pay instructors and staff consistently, and offer students a learning environment of dignity and consistency. Join the Crew and get behind-the-scenes invites and updates.

Thank you for being part of it.
